Cancelation! (only in Lubbock)

This week we had some very unusual weather! It was overcast and rainy all week. Thursday we woke up to the sound of rain and it never stopped. At moments it was harder than others, but it continued all day. By the end of the day we had received 6 inches of rain. Some places are used to a lot of rain, but not Lubbock, and the city is not built for a lot of rain because they made the streets the drainage route. By 9:00 p.m. several roads were closed because they were rivers and all of the roads had a lot of water on them. At 9:30 I received an automated phone call letting me know school had been cancelled because of the rain. I turned on the news at ten and found out all of Lubbock had cancelled school. This wouldn't have been so bad if it continued to rain, but it just so happened that Friday was the nicest day we had had all week. We didn't get anymore rain and by morning the roads were no longer flooded. We will now have to make up Friday another day! The people in Lubbock seem to jump the gun a lot when it comes to weather related issues! It was nice to have the kids home for an extra day!
